We are very fortunate that television's Heartbeat Country is located right on our doorstep so you can easily explore Aidensfield and the Heartbeat film locations featured on TV.
Robin Hood's Bay is also on the edge of Heartbeat Country made famous by the popular television drama series based on the life and times of a country policeman that was centred upon the rural village of Goathland, known on TV as Aidensfield. This is only a short drive away, passing through typical stone-built Yorkshire villages, beautiful green countryside and the famous purple heather moorlands on route. Nearby Whitby is another popular Heartbeat location.
Heartbeat Country extends over quite an area, but its main location is Aidensield (Goathland) which possesses many of the settings and scenes featured on your television screens. These include the Police House, the Nurse's Flat, Aidensfield Stores, Aidensfield Post Office, the Aidensfield Arms, Scripps or Aidensfield Garage and Aidensfield Station. This station also featured in the famous Harry Potter movies.
An ideal place from which to start your exploration of Heartbeat Country is the Moors Coffee Shop and Village Store in the village of Goathland. Here you will be able to obtain three excellent guidebooks featuring the series and the area; these titles are Aidensfield, Heartbeat Country Photoguide and the story of Heartbeat Country, all Discovery Guides published by Discovery Publishing UK Limited. For Heartbeat memorabilia, please visit www.gifts4heartbeat.co.uk and for more details of the Aidensfield Stores and Moors Coffee Shop please visit www.moorscoffeeshop.co.uk
Therefore staying at Robin Hood's Bay for your holiday provides you with a great choice of places to visit, not just coastal locations, but also inland locations such as Heartbeat Country, Herriot Country and Captain Cook Country, all of which include areas of the famous North York Moors National Park. And one final important point worthy of mention is that one alternative way of exploring the National Park and these famous regions is by the North York Moors Railway which runs from Whitby and Grosmont to Pickering through the most beautiful rural countryside.
Located at picturesque Robin Hood's Bay near Whitby on the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast, we offer excellent hotel accommodation, bed and breakfast accommodation and holiday accommodation throughout all seasons. Really enjoyed this hotel. We had a large suite overlooking the moors facing west and were very comfortable. Service and staff were very accommodating and the food at dinner and breakfast were more than satisfactory. Strongly recommended.
Just had three nights stay in August. Great location had a sea view paid a little extra. Well worth it. Beautifully clean, very comfy bed. Super breakfasts with plenty of variety served by very welcoming staff. Had dinner on our first night, great food superbly cooked and again very amiable staff. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Free car parking which is a bonus as area gets very busy. Will return.
"Dog friendly AND a great view!"
We visited 3 times during our long weekend staying at Robin Hoods Bay. Best views over the bay and plenty of tables outside of the sun is shining! Dogs welcome inside and out, just not in the most fancy bit!! Decent food at good prices- worth a visit.
"Absolutely wonderful in every way!"
This hotel is based at the top of the hill down to the beach, so fabulous locality. The food was absolutely second to none and they were more than willing to serve food which wasn't on the menu (for our awkward child). The room (room 4, family room) was very clean and very spacious. Our bathroom was beautiful and done to a high standard. But most of all, the staff were so friendly and helpful which absolutely made it for us. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back.
The hotel is ideally situated at the top of the cliff and has a lovely beer garden to cool off in with a drink and catch your breath after the climb back up the hill from the beach. Our room was a good size and clean and the best bit was the huge bathroom with separate shower and Cadburys advert bath. Lovely breakfast to set you up for the day and the bonus is having its own car park in an area where parking spaces are limited and in high demand. The staff were friendly and approachable too.
Difficult to find a fault"
Visited for the third time-professional but genuine welcome from staff who appeared to be happy in their work-all food of good quality from breakfast to dinner-restaurant capably supervised by Susie at breakfast and Michael at dinner-had room on second floor with views inland-could not find any fault.
This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Besides the fact that the rooms are amazing, the restaurant is fantastic, the coffee shop is great and the bar is fab. The staff are some of the most helpful and pleasant we have ever met.
Spent my 50th Birthday here and it was absolutely lovely. Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. The staff are very friendly and professional, food is excellent and nothing was too much trouble. To top it off there is a beautiful view of Robin Hoods Bay, who could ask for more!
